The colour that resonates strongly with passion, boldness and fierceness. It definitely reminds me of that unforgettable well-known red MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo that goes well with almost anything! And let’s not forget that oh-so-great red MJ Thriller jacket. Ugh! Is there anything not to love about this colour?!
I have a confession. I’ve been having a not-so-secret love affair with this bold hue. I’m drawn to its distinctive eye-catching appeal and its dominant voice that speaks in a room filled with hues that silence the crowd. Am I that much of an attention seeker?!
Over time, I have slowly accumulated some staple pieces that are essential in any woman’s closet … and this red leather jacket is just one of them. I can dress it down or dress it up – but regardless of the arena, it’s the centre of the attention. But, given that I haven’t had the chance to make a formal introduction – I want to take this time to introduce you to this little number. Made of soft supple leather, which is a result of a skinned animal (duh! – which I would like to believe fed a family or two) is a prized possession and the scene stealer in any situation. *Disclosure* – I hate killing animals for fashion and I do have Matt + Natt items because of this; but, sometimes the real deal is hard to beat – *runs and hides in shame*. It’s soft. It’s striking. It’s leather.
I believe that there is something about leather that makes an item a “must-have”. Do you know the feeling I am talking about? That feeling you get when you see the same product in either fabric or some polyurethane/synthetic material, and it just doesn’t give you the same feels as seeing the same item in its leather form. It’s almost an unnatural sight, which results in one purchasing the better – quality version of the product knowing that it is an investment piece and something you won’t have to replace anytime soon. This jacket was and is just that. I saw this red number during a store liquidation sale and it was love at first sight; and fit. I’d always been looking for the classic black leather jacket (which is a great investment piece too), but when my eyes crossed paths with this beauty, I couldn’t leave it behind. Do you believe in “happily ever after?”
What I love about this jacket is that it’s not only a great conversation starter, but a great compliment to any closet and outfit because of its vibrancy, versatility and sex appeal. Regardless of how I wear it – draped over my shoulders with a little black dress, or with a pair of jeans and Converse – it just sits the right way and oozes confidence and sex. That va-va-voom. Do you know what I mean?
